Our Mission

The mission of the Tennessee Association Occupational Health Nurses is to advance the profession of occupational and environmental health nursing through lifetime learning, adherence to professional standards and ethics, influence of legislative, regulatory and policy issues, promotion of communication and development of strategic alliances and partnerships at both state and local levels.


2008 Goals

Membership goals

 

TAOHN will:

  1. Develop and implement a state-wide program to support and encourage new members;

  2. Support new leaders who demonstrate an interest in becoming more active in the organization and encourage new leadership by promoting attendance at the TAOHN Conference of Leaders;

  3. Continue to sponsor participation in the Tennessee Safety and Health Conference to gain exposure for occupational health nurses.

 

Public Policy Goals

  1. Increase the political awareness of its members and encourage members to participate in contacting their legislators on issues of importance to the profession;

  2. Identify at least one member from each chapter to work with the State Legislative Coordinator in contracting local and state legislators to discuss pertinent legislation through written correspondence, appointments, and invitations to TAOHN functions;

  3. Continue to monitor and respond to legislative and regulatory issues as appropriate.

 

Fiscal Goals

 

TAOHN will establish a budget and maintain fiscal viability.
